What is Toastmasters?
Toastmasters International ( http://www.toastmasters.org) is the world’s largest non-profit, self-help, public speaking, and educational organization. It promotes this by providing supportive environments via over 10,000 clubs in countries around the world. Over 200 of those clubs are in British Columbia, including us on Burnaby Mountain. We are a group of individuals striving to improve our communication and leadership skills. Both impromptu (unprepared) and prepared speaking opportunities are provided. All speakers are given constructive feedback.
How can we help you?
Language is the most powerful tool we have to communicate our ideas, at the office, at play, and in the classroom. At Burnaby Mountain Toastmasters, you will learn to communicate your ideas in a fun, friendly and very supportive environment. We are all here to learn!
As a member of our club you will learn how to give effective presentations that work, how to conduct meetings that sizzle, and how to motivate others towards your ideas. We offer self-paced programs that will let you learn as rapidly or gradually as you wish, and we will work with you to make sure you meet your personal objectives.
Why we retain members
Burnaby Mountain Toastmasters has a tendency of holding on to members. Even after graduation from SFU, many members stay in the club. Why? Because we offer valuable life skills! And, it is fun, challenging and all the other good things that can occupy a Tuesday night. If you want to see why so many people do in fact stay as members of our club, come check out a meeting!
Feel free to send us an e-mail at: firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or comments you may have. We look forward to meeting with you on the mountain every Wednesday night.
